Niagara Residents to Benefit from Enbridge's Generosity

Niagara, ON (October 28, 2011) – The Niagara Health System’s It’s Our Time Campaign received a boost from Enbridge Gas Distribution’s support of the new NHS Healthcare Complex in west St. Catharines with a $100,000 contribution over the next four years.

NHS Chief Planning and Development Officer Gloria Kain graciously accepted the donation, stating, “We are very grateful for the support of good corporate citizens like Enbridge. I’d like to offer our sincere thanks to Enbridge for helping build a stronger and healthier Niagara through supporting healthcare in our region.”

Enbridge supports organizations that contribute to the economic, environmental and social well-being of communities near its operations and through community leadership invests in innovative initiatives in health and social services.

“Enbridge is proud to support the Niagara Health System Foundation in its efforts to help improve the quality of life for members of our community,” said Mike Mees, General Manager, Enbridge Gas Distribution. “We’re certainly pleased to help contribute to the construction of the new Healthcare Complex that will help meet the healthcare needs of our customers in the Niagara Region for many years to come.”

The funds will help support the Walker Family Cancer Centre Infusion Bay Stretcher Area, which will provide close-to-home treatment for cancer patients. Construction of the Healthcare Complex and is over 70 percent complete and on target to open for patient care in the spring of 2013.

The It’s Our Time Campaign is raising $40 million to support regional health-care services for cardiac care, chronic kidney disease, mental health treatment, and comprehensive cancer care. The Campaign supports medical equipment for the new Healthcare Complex and Walker Family Cancer Centre and enhancements at existing NHS sites to sustain current healthcare services and provide new programs throughout the region.
